FOOD SORTING - MELBOURNE
Food sorting volunteers help us sort rescued produce at our warehouse on an ongoing basis, making sure it's ready to be donated to food programs run by our community partners. Shifts are available Monday-Friday any time between 9am-4pm, with volunteers shifts lasting between 2-4 hours.
All volunteers must be 18 years or older and the role involves some manual handling.
MARKET COLLECTIONS - MELBOURNE
Our market volunteers help us rescue food at weekend markets across Melbourne. Working as part of a team, Market Volunteers collect food donations from stallholders as the market closes for the day. Shifts last 1-2 hours and you can join one of our teams as an individual, or sign up with friends, family or colleagues as part of a group.
FOOD SORTING - PERTH
Food sorting volunteers help us sort rescued produce at our warehouse on an ongoing basis, making sure it's ready to be donated to food programs run by our community partners. Shifts are available Monday-Friday any time between 7am-2pm, with volunteers shifts lasting between 2-4 hours.
SecondBite hosts a popular corporate volunteer program at our Melbourne site. If your team would like to spend a few hours helping to sort and pack fresh food donations in our warehouse, please fill out the form below and someone from our team will be in touch with some more information.
These volunteer sessions run on Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 9:15am to 12:30pm. We’re able to host groups of up to 8 people at a time. Please note that due to popularity of the program, we are often booked several months in advance.
SecondBite has partnered with long-time charity partner ‘Our Big Kitchen’, based in Bondi, in the Meals that Matter volunteer program. For Sydney-based organisations looking for a team building event with a difference, this program offers an engaging experience, focused on giving back to the community.
A typical session involves team members working together to prepare and cook 200 meals for individuals and families in need. Your staff will learn about food insecurity in Australia, the work SecondBite does to address this, the people we support, and will share a meal that they have created together. This 3 hour cooking program costs $1700 for groups of up to twenty people. For teams greater than twenty, there is an additional charge of $60 per person. The program cost is regarded as a donation for tax purposes.
